Tided Up Dutch Harbor

Bucket list checked . . . we safely sailed from Hawaii to Dutch Harbor Alaska! Five minutes to noon HST we rafted to a boat that just sailed from China bound for California. Congratulations to Kirk for winning Math Be Hard For Sailor’s Game and the Penrhyn Black-tip Shark poster.

We were so blessed on our arrival. The fog had lifted, the morning sun illuminated the Dutch Harbor mountains, and we had a clear motor to the dock. We would have tied up about two hours earlier, but we had to switch harbors and that required us to go almost all the way out of the bay then back in again because we could not fit under the new bridge connecting old Dutch to new Dutch.

The harbormaster and customs were so nice and met us at our boat. Everyone told us about the grand seafood buffet only served on Wednesdays. We are super tired, but we might make it to dinner. Just walking and stretching our legs sounds wonderful.

Boat location 53 degrees 52.604 N, 166 degrees 33.111 W Dutch Harbor

Cheers,
Sara and Wade
